Crew rescued after tanker crash
Three people have been rescued after their boat collided with a tanker and sank near Whitby.

The crew of the Iled'yeu, a converted fishing boat, made an emergency call when it started taking water after the crash with the tanker Dutch Progress.

An RNLI lifeboat rescued the two men and one woman and took them back into Whitby. The boat eventually sank four miles from the entrance to Whitby pier.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch have been informed.

A spokesman for the Humber Coastguard said the crew were shaken but uninjured.

"We had to act quickly to ensure the safety of the three crew," he said.
