Crash victim dies in burning car
A 66-year-old man has died after being trapped in his burning car following a crash in North Yorkshire.

His Nissan Micra burst into flames after it was in collision with a Honda Civic on the A61 about two miles south of Harrogate on Thursday night.

"The Micra ended up in a ditch and caught fire with a person trapped inside," North Yorkshire Police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a 24-year-old Leeds man, escaped with minor injuries.

The road was closed for more than four hours as police carried out a detailed examination of the crash scene.
