A glider pilot who was killed in a mid-air collision over North Yorkshire has been named by police.
Peter Heywood, 48, of Finedon, near Wellingborough, Northants, died when two gliders crashed near Sutton Bank, four miles east of Thirsk, on Monday.
The company director's body was found in the wreckage. The other pilot escaped serious injury after parachuting from his stricken aircraft.
Meanwhile, investigations continued on Tuesday into the cause of the crash.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Air accident investigators returned to the scene this morning to continue their investigation with the support of police."
The nearby A170, which was closed after debris from the gliders landed on the road, was not due to reopen until about 1700 BST on Tuesday, police added.
Monday's accident was the second fatal crash involving a pilot flying from the Yorkshire Gliding Club in the last few weeks.
On 30 August, a 56-year-old man was critically injured when his aircraft crashed on landing. He later died in hospital.
