Man dies in grass cutter accident
A council worker has died following an accident involving a grass cutter in York on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the Clifton area of the city after reports the sit-on mower had overturned, trapping the operator.

The male driver was employed by the City of York Council. The council has said the incident will be thoroughly investigated.

Police said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

David Finnegan, the council's director of commercial services, said: "We can confirm that a City of York Council employee was involved in a fatal accident this morning.

"Our deepest sympathy goes to the employee's family and colleagues at this time.

"A thorough investigation of the incident has already started and we will be unable to provide any further details until it has been completed."
