Drive for safety on school runs
Parents in an area of North Yorkshire are being asked to drive more responsibly around Hambleton's schools.

The plea is part of a week-long safety campaign to tackle speeding, bad parking and incorrect use of seat belts while on the school run.

The Community Safety Partnership is trying to get across the "Watch out! There's a kid about!" message.

A traffic warden will visit primary schools in the area to talk to people as they drop off and collect children.

And safety officers will be out and about across the district with speed matrix signs.

Partnership officials say it is important to ensure every child has a safe journey to school, especially during winter when there are dark mornings, rain, fog, ice and a low sun to deal with.
