A 17-year-old rider was injured when her horse reared up and rolled on her during a hunt in North Yorkshire.
Sarah Beal was riding with the Derwent Hunt on farmland owned by her father when the accident happened at Yeddingham near Malton on Tuesday.
She was airlifted to York Hospital where her condition on Wednesday was said to be "poorly".
Sarah Morley from the Derwent Hunt, which is based in the Vale of Pickering said it was a "freak accident".
Mrs Morley added: "Despite her age, she is considered an experienced rider and has been riding and competing since she was about 10.
Ms Beal's mother and sister were also riding in the hunt.
