The shooting of one of only four seals that visits a North Yorkshire beach has been condemned by a marine biologist.
Carl Whittaker contacted police after discovering the rotting body of a seal in a rock pool near the Filey Brigg Ornothological Group hut.
He said the animal's carcass was covered with flies and was left in full view of children.
Mr Whittaker said he was appalled by the find and believes fishermen may have shot the mammal.
