Boy, 11, seriously hurt in crash
An 11-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after a serious accident involving four vehicles on the A1 in North Yorkshire.

Police said five people were injured in the accident, which happened on the northbound carriageway between Little Fencote and Hackforth.

Two cars, a pick-up truck and a lorry were involved in a collision at about 1130 BST on Tuesday.

The northbound carriageway was closed causing nine-mile tailbacks.

The boy, who was seriously injured, was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough by air ambulance.

The other four casualties were taken to the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton with serious injuries, police said.
