Police purge on street drinkers
Drinkers in an area of York are being warned not to consume alcohol on the streets after a ban came into force.

The banning order means offenders could face a fine of £500 for ignoring the restriction, effective from 1700 BST on Friday.

It covers land at the church, community centre and play area on Rivelin Way and Landalewood Road in Clifton Moor.

North Yorkshire Police will enforce the drinking ban in the public areas after recent problems, including disturbances
