Police in America have issued an arrest warrant for a North Yorkshire man who allegedly had sex with a teenager he met in an internet chat room.
James Horsfield, 36, from Leyburn, is wanted in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a 15-year-old in Austin, Texas.
On Wednesday, North Yorkshire Police said they had arrested a 36-year-old for an alleged offence of grooming.
He has been released on police bail and could now face extradition proceedings.
Rented car
Mr Horsfield allegedly flew out to Texas in July to meet the girl who he had met more than two years ago on the internet, according to Texan courts.
It is alleged he assaulted the teenager "several times" in the back of a rented car before returning to the UK.
Police said the girl's mother contacted detectives after her daughter told her of the alleged assaults.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "In the light of information received from the police in Austin, Texas, a 36-year-old man from Leyburn has been arrested for an alleged offence of grooming."
