A scheme to provide affordable homes in four North Yorkshire towns has moved a step closer.
Hambleton Council has set aside £1.2m from the sale of council houses to develop sites in Northallerton, Thirsk, Topcliffe and Easingwold.
It is hoped that cash will also be available from other sources to enable a total of 35 homes to be built.
One of the schemes involves converting a hostel in Thirsk into five one bedroom flats.
Councillor David Blades said: "All these schemes are in their infancy. They need more detailed work on them before planning permission is applied for.
"But they could be the starting block we are looking for."
