Person found to blow city's horn
Ripon is to unveil the name of its new hornblower on Monday.

The city council has had to advertise twice for a person to take up the ancient role which involves blowing a horn in the market place every evening.

Finally a new hornblower has been found and is currently being trained in the techniques involved.

The horn blowing tradition dates back 500 years from a time when the hornblower was responsible for the city's safety from 2100 until dawn.
