The North braced for flash floods

Drivers have been warned about conditions on the roads
Flash flooding is expected again as heavy rain continues throughout the day on Friday.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning as a band of heavy rain makes its way across Yorkshire bringing substantial downfalls.

Several flood warnings have been issued including one for an industrial estate and caravan park near the River Nidd in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire.

About 40mm of rain fell overnight. It is expected to clear by late afternoon.

The Environment Agency has issued a warning for the Johnson and Johnson pharmaceutical distribution site in Gargrave, close to the River Aire. Nearby houses are also affected.

Warnings have also been issued for the River Nidd at Hunsingore and Cattal in North Yorkshire and for the Calder in West Yorkshire.

Five flood watches have also been issued.

Nidderdale and Wharfedale, Swaledale and Wensleydale and the Vale of York in North Yorkshire are affected as well as the rivers Don, Dearne and Rother in South Yorkshire and the Aire in West Yorkshire.

Trains between Leeds and Bradford to Skipton and Carlisle were disrupted during Friday morning because of flooding on the line.
