A service to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Normandy landings has been held in North Yorkshire.
More than 400 veterans from across Britain attended the service at York Minster to remember those who lost their lives in the campaign in 1944.
The veterans and their families stood for a minute's silence and a bugler sounded the Last Post as wreaths were laid.
A reunion was then held at Towthorpe Lines field hospital in Strensall.
