Snow causes problems for schools

Snow caused problems for motorists and schools in North Yorkshire on Friday morning.

The whole county had snow on Thursday night and police say there 42 accidents between midnight and 1100 GMT on Friday.

The eastbound carriageway of the A64 York to Scarborough road was closed for a time at Whitwell-on-Hill.

Around 20 schools, mainly in the Ryedale area, told BBC Radio York they were closed on Friday.
