Accident death pair named

A motorcyclist and his passenger who were killed in a road accident in North Yorkshire have been named by police.

Scott Shillito, 33, and 23-year-old Joanne Shinn, both from Doncaster, were killed in a head-on collision with a tractor.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened on the A19 just south of Whitely, North Yorkshire, at 1522 BST on Sunday.

The tractor driver, who was treated for shock at Pontefract Royal Infirmary, was arrested.

He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

North Yorkshire Police are also appealing for witnesses to a separate incident in which a second motorbike rider died in a collision with a Vauxhall Astra.

The fatal crash happened at 1805 BST on Sunday between Hambleton and Monk Fryston.
