Pilot dies in crash near airfield in Norfolk

A pilot has died after a light aircraft crashed on to farmland in a Norfolk village on Sunday evening.

The accident happened on land at Fen Street in Old Buckenham near Attleborough, police said.

The pilot was believed to have been alone in a Mooney M20B plane near an airfield and police were investigating.

"It's unclear if the aircraft, flown by a foreign national man, was landing or taking off. The scene has been cordoned off," the police spokesman said.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch has been informed and Norfolk police are co-operating with them in their investigation, he added.
