A taxi driver was attacked and his car vandalised by six men and women when he was called to an address in Norfolk.

The group assaulted him, smashed his taxi's windows and walked over the car, causing dents, in Sloane Way, Thetford, in the early hours of Saturday.

A police spokesman said the taxi driver suffered minor injuries.

Soon after, a man was hit by a Peugeot 306 on a nearby street and the male driver arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, police added.

A 29-year-old man has been released on bail.

The man who was hit by the car was taken to hospital for his injuries and later discharged.

Police are seeking witnesses to the assault and vandalism, which happened at about 0300 GMT, and the separate collision.
