Speeding drivers targeted in town

A week of action to clamp down on drivers speeding in a Norfolk town has resulted in more than 70 motorists being stopped by police officers.

Wells neighbourhood policing team and Norfolk's safety camera partnership monitored the speed of cars in Wells from 2 to 8 November.

More than 70 drivers were stopped and given a verbal or written warning or they were issued a ticket.

Two drivers caught speeding have been reported to court.

The partnership identified Wells Road in Walsingham as a concern due to the number of speeding motorists.

The road has now been made a designated site for the camera van.

PCSO Becky Taylor said: "This was a very successful operation and one which will be repeated in the future.

"Overall there was not a large volume of speeding in the area, however concerns over Wells Road will be discussed at our next priority meeting."
