Man in nightclub assault 'stable'

A man received serious head and neck injuries when he was hit with a brick outside a nightclub in the centre of Norwich in the early hours.

The man was attacked by a small group of people outside Po Na Na's club in Bank Plain and the offenders ran off towards King Street, police said.

The victim was treated at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and is in a critical but stable condition.

Norfolk police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

Norfolk police have not yet named him or given any further details of the attack.

Bank Street in Norwich, a one-way street linking King Street with Bank Plain, was cordoned off with police patrol cars blocked both ends while forensic investigations were carried out.

Norfolk police said there was no link with a student pub crawl which took place in the city on Monday night.
