Extra police for rave crackdown

Extra police officers are on duty in Norfolk this weekend as part of a crackdown on illegal music events.

Norfolk police said they would adopt a zero-tolerance approach to raves.

They are urging local people to keep them informed about any taking place in their neighbourhood and for landowners to keep gates secure.

"We have extra resources available this weekend to prevent, disrupt and close down illegal raves in this county," Ch Supt Tony Cherington said.

"I want to reiterate the message that these events are unsafe and disruptive to our local communities.

"We will continue to take a hard line against the people behind these events.

"We shall prosecute and seize and destroy the equipment of anyone found to be involved in their organisation."
