Dead pair 'gave missing man cash'

Derick Tempest and two of his children
Derick Tempest was described as a loving father and family man

The partner of a missing father visited two men at a garage inquiring about his whereabouts shortly before the pair were found dead, it has been revealed.

Police have named James Hall, 60, and Andrew Ventham, 49, both of Queens Road, Great Yarmouth, as the two men whose bodies were found on Monday.

They were found at the garage in Camden Place, Great Yarmouth.

Sarah Sherfield, partner of missing Derick Tempest, had visited the garage asking why they had given him money.

Police said officers are now linking the disappearance of father-of-three Mr Tempest with the deaths.

'Loved his family'

The two men's deaths continue to be treated as unexplained but are not believed to be suspicious, police added.

Post-mortem examinations have been completed and the results of further tests are needed to determine the exact cause of death.

Officers are continuing to search the Camden Road site and think the investigation of the premises will take about two days.

Donna Sherfield, the sister of Mr Tempest's partner, said her sister Sarah had visited the garage run by Mr Hall after Mr Tempest's disappearance.

She told the BBC: "Sarah goes down in the morning. She goes to the garage asking, 'why were you giving him money? Why was he here?'

"They said Derick popped his head round. Said he was moving away. We haven't seen Derick since."

Soon after the bodies of the two men were found at the garage.

The disappearance of Mr Tempest is completely out of character as he has daily contact with his family
Det Insp Gary Bloomfield

She described Mr Tempest as "one of the nicest people you can ever come across, who loved his family".

Police said it is now believed that Mr Tempest visited the premises at Camden Road at some point during the afternoon of Wednesday 28 October and inquiries are continuing to establish the purpose of that visit.

Det Insp Gary Bloomfield said: "The disappearance of Mr Tempest is completely out of character as he has daily contact with his family.

"I would urge anyone who knows of the whereabouts of Mr Tempest to come forward and anyone who may have seen him in the days since his disappearance."
