Mock crash to boost road safety

Four young drivers were cut out of a car as part of an initiative to educate people on road safety.

The mock car collision was organised by Norfolk Fire and Rescue and Lakenham and Tuckswood policing teams.

During the event in Norwich, four girls had been involved in a collision with possible spinal injuries.

Crews cut the car to remove the driver and passengers safely and the girls experienced the noises and minute by minute explanation of the rescue.

Sgt Dave Jerman said: "The event was held at a location where groups of young drivers meet and socialise.

"We wanted to capture these drivers and educate them about road safety and what could happen if they were involved in a collision."
