Nuns name city's new £2.5m bridge

Two nuns have won a competition to name Norwich's new £2.5m bridge.

The city council ran the challenge as the bridge, between King Street and Riverside, was being built.

Sister Pamela of All Hallows Convent on Rouen Road and Sister Violet of All Hallows Convent, in Ditchingham, both suggested the Lady Julian Bridge.

Julian was a woman who people believed was a mystic, from her 12th century writings. The bridge is due to be formally opened on 15 September.

Work started in January and is due to be finished by August.
