Man arrested over sexual assault

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a serious sexual assault at a Norfolk seaside resort.

The attack happened in an alleyway near Albion Road, Great Yarmouth, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The 19-year-old victim was walking along the road when a man approached and started talking to her.

He then pushed her into the alleyway and sexually assaulted her. The suspect was arrested at his home in Great Yarmouth, a police spokesman said.

Det Insp Andy Guy, from Norfolk Police, said: "We are still interested in hearing from anyone who may have been in the Albion Road area between 0430 BST and 0500 BST on Saturday 4 July.

"We are particularly interested in tracing a middle-aged man, wearing a green top and green trousers who was walking up Albion Road towards the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant at about 0450 BST.

"It is possible he was going to or returning from work and witnessed the attack but didn't realise it."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the major investigation team at Norfolk Police.
