Coast erosion guide for planners

Coastal erosion
Parts of the east coast are being eroded by the sea

New guidelines for developments in coastal areas of Norfolk at risk of erosion have been produced.

North Norfolk council has formulated an erosion risk guide to work alongside existing rules and policies.

A spokesman said the aim was to clarify how policies can be implemented in areas where erosion is predicted.

He said: "The erosion guidelines explain risks to people and property, how they differ by development and what can be done."

The guidance is designed for planning agents and architects and is already being used by planning officers and development control committee members.
