Two giant musical inflatable spheres will be floating across a Norfolk broad to help residents relax.

South Norfolk Council is hosting Midsummer Chillax (a combination of the words chill and relax) at Whitlingham Country Park, near Norwich.

One sphere will contain a flautist and the other an aerial dancer.

A council spokeswoman said the free event was aimed at "banishing recession blues" and entertaining the "staycation generation of holidaymakers".

There will also be a walk-through inflatable colourdome and sculptures on a beach, which is made from 80 tonnes of imported sand.

Councillor Michelle Monck, South Norfolk cabinet member for leisure, said: "[It is] our attempt to counter the economic doom and gloom with a range of free and low cost, fun and culturally vibrant events for local residents and visitors to enjoy."
