Entrepreneur joins agency board

A Cambridge entrepreneur has been made a new board member of the East of England Development Agency (EEDA).

Dr Robert Swann, a co-founder of Cambridge semiconductor company Alphamosaic, was appointed to the board by the government.

Alphamosaic's multimedia products have achieved sales of more than 25 million devices worldwide and can be found in mobile phones and media players.

Dr Swann has been appointed for a 31-month term.

The government also announced the re-appointment of existing board members Peter McCarthy-Ward, William Pope and Lord Edward Iveagh.

Richard Ellis, chair of EEDA, said: "I welcome Robert Swann's appointment as his wealth of experience in business and innovation will help EEDA and the East of England."

Dr Swann graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge, in electrical and information sciences and co-founded Alphamosaic in 2001.
