Hundreds of cannabis plants have been found growing in 20 rooms of a Norfolk hotel undergoing renovation work.

Police found the drugs in the rooms over two floors of the Waverley Hotel, in Princes Road, Great Yarmouth.

There were more than 500 cannabis plants, at least 200 bags of fertiliser and evidence of recent plants being cultivated and cropped.

Police said no arrests had been made and efforts were taking place to contact the owners of the property.

The premises have been sealed and will not be entered until electrical supplies have been made safe.

It is thought this could take a considerable amount of time since there are numerous bare wires throughout the premises some that relate to the renovation work and others that relate to the growing of cannabis, police said.
