An inquest has opened into death of a man killed when the plane he was in crashed into a tractor in Norfolk.

Father-of-two Ian Davies, 49, of Topcroft, Norfolk, died at Seething Airfield, near Norwich, last week.

At the inquest, which opened in Norwich, deputy Greater Norfolk coroner Jacqueline Lake said post-mortem tests showed he died from head trauma.

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed. A second man in the plane is at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.

He suffered serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.

It is not yet known who was piloting the aircraft as the plane had dual controls.

Mr Davies was director of group business development at media group Archant, and had been with the company for 19 years. Colleagues said he was passionate about flying.

The tractor driver, Andrew Hill, was treated for shock.

Norfolk Police are investigating together with the Air Accident Investigation Branch.
