Comedian Steve Coogan has received a warm welcome back to Norwich, the city he was once accused of ridiculing.

Coogan brought his spoof radio DJ Alan Partridge to Norfolk as part of his latest live tour and was cheered off stage at the Theatre Royal on Monday.

The appearance before the sell-out audience was Coogan's first since he provoked outrage over his portrayal of Norfolk in his show I'm Alan Partridge.

Introducing his act, Coogan said: "What a fantastic county, a great city."

The comic is on a 40-date tour, entitled Steve Coogan is Alan Partridge and Other Less Successful Characters.

He was heckled during the opening night of the tour at the Liverpool Echo Arena.
