Piglets die in farm arson attack

Piglets have been killed in a suspected arson attack on a straw stack at a farm in Norfolk.

Firefighters from Massingham, Norfolk, were called just after midnight to a pig farm in Harpley, west of Fakenham, to deal with the blaze.

An estimated 500 tonnes of straw was on fire close to a row of pig units. The staff helped move some of the pigs, mostly sows with piglets, to safety.

The sow in the nearest unit to the fire escaped, but her piglets died.

The incident is being treated as arson by the fire service.
