Bus driver denies murdering son

A bus driver killed his 19-year-old son after an argument, a court has heard.

Peter Farmbrough called 999 from his flat in Norwich after being wounded in the heart in July 2007 and said: "I have been stabbed."

In the background his father David Farmbrough, 52, could be heard saying: "Tell them it was an accident mate. Peter, say it was an accident."

David Farmbrough, of Driffield, East Yorkshire, denied murder at Norwich Crown Court.

He told police that his son died accidentally.

Neighbours heard a commotion in the flat the two men shared in Norwich shortly before emergency services were alerted late on 30 July 2007, jurors were told.

Prosecutor Ian James said the cause of the row would probably never be known.

Became angry

But he said the night before, Peter Farmbrough had a "sexual fling" with a girl he had met at a Norwich club called The Loft.

The club was "frequented by homosexuals", said Mr James.

On the night he died, Peter Farmbrough had become angry after being teased about his visit during a phone conversation with his brother Ashley.

It was not known whether David Farmbrough had been involved in the conversation or whether that was the cause of the row.

The trial continues.
