Acid spill shuts part of resort

Part of a Norfolk seaside resort was cordoned off after a hydrochloric acid spillage on a main road.

Up to 40 firefighters were at the scene around Great Yarmouth's Marina Centre after a storage tank in a filtration plant was overfilled with the chemical.

Staff and swimmers left the building amid fears fumes could spread, and other premises in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

Part of Marine Parade was shut while emergency services were at the scene.
