Winter homes needed for donkeys

Great Yarmouth Donkeys
Temporary homes are being sought for the Great Yarmouth donkeys

Donkeys that provide rides on Great Yarmouth's beaches are in need of homes for the winter.

The Donkey Sanctuary said the animals' owners wanted to give them a well-deserved break over the coming months but need to find accommodation.

"Caring for donkeys can be most rewarding," said Shelagh Steel, the Sanctuary's regional welfare officer, who is looking for any temporary homes.

"Donkeys need to be rehomed in pairs as they are companion animals," she added.

The Sanctuary said anyone willing to offer a temporary home for the animals would need time and commitment as well as "an acre of well-fenced grazing with shelter, fresh water supply and electricity".
