Trucker taken to funeral on lorry

A retired trucker's last wish to be carried on the back of a lorry to his funeral and final resting place has been honoured.

Pete Mott, of Gaywood, Norfolk, was delivered to the church on a flat bed 7.5 tonne truck owned by a quarry company where he worked for 27 years.

Mr Mott, 74, renewed wedding vows with wife Mina in March to mark their golden wedding anniversary.

His funeral service was at St Nicholas Chapel, King's Lynn, on Thursday.

The lorry carried him to South Wootton cemetery near King's Lynn after the service.

Peter Lemon, managing director of the quarry firm Middleton Aggregates, said: "He was a very careful driver and famous for polishing his cab a lot - it was always gleaming."
