Cyclist is shot in face on bridge

A cyclist has been shot in the face with a pellet, believed to be from an air rifle, as he crossed a bridge.

The attack happened on Wednesday afternoon in Eaton, a suburb of Norwich on the south side of the city.

The 32-year-old, not named by police investigating the incident, was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and later allowed home.

Four people arrested in connection with the shooting have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

A youth aged 16, two men aged 18 and 21 and a 16-year-old girl were questioned.

It is the second recent incident involving air rifle pellets in the city, police said.

A bus window was smashed on Norwich's southern bypass earlier in the week, damage which the police suspect was caused by pellets fired from an air rifle.
