Stock car racer injured in crash

A stock car driver is being treated for suspected spinal injuries after a crash at the Norfolk Arena in King's Lynn.

Firefighters were called to the venue after a crash during the F1 Stock Car World Semi Final on Saturday night.

The racer had to be cut free from his car by the arena's emergency team before being taken to hospital.

Brett Hopcroft, from Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, said the rigid nature of stock cars results in a greater impact for drivers in a crash.
