'Dangerous' man guilty of rapes

A 47-year-old man, described by a judge as "extremely dangerous", is facing an indefinite jail sentence for three rape attacks on a young woman.

The 18-year-old woman was subjected to a 30-minute ordeal after being dragged into a car park in Norwich.

Paul Bamforth, of no fixed address, was convicted at Norwich Crown Court of the rapes and one sexual assault.

Judge Paul Downes adjourned the case for sentencing, but told Bamforth an indefinite sentence may be needed.

He told Bamforth: "You treated that young woman abominably. You probably present a serious risk to members of the public and the sentence will probably be a significant one in custody."

Judge Downes said he wanted to see pre-sentence reports before making a final decision.

The court heard the Bamforth had been jailed for four years in 1992 for raping his next door neighbour.
