A campaign to highlight the problem of fly-tipping is launched by a Norfolk council which pays out £200,000 a year to clear up the mess.
Norwich City Council is holding an awareness week and letting people know how to dispose of waste legally.
The council deals with around 300 incidents a month.
It said incidents that were common in the city included the dumping of sofas, fridges and freezers, and plastic bags of general household waste.
Emily Capps, environmental protection officer at the council, said: "There really isn't any excuse for people to illegally dump their waste.
"There are plenty of ways to dispose of waste properly."
