Banned driver is sentenced again

A banned motorist who drove to court to answer a speeding charge has received a suspended prison sentence.

Michael Tomlin, who was disqualified in November, was spotted parking his VW Golf outside Cromer Magistrates Court in Norfolk to face an earlier charge.

Tomlin, 49, of Binham, near Fakenham, Norfolk, admitted driving while disqualified and with no insurance.

He received a four-month prison sentence, suspended for a year, and must complete 100 hours unpaid work.

He was ordered to pay £70 costs and received six penalty points.

The defendant claimed he had just moved to the area, so did not know anyone who could give him a lift to court.
