Hospital hopes to restore visits

A hospital is to continue ward visiting restrictions to combat the winter vomiting virus but hopes they can be lifted later this week.

People have been asked not to visit any wards at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) unless absolutely necessary over the next few days.

The restrictions are set to be reviewed again on Monday.

The hospital said 15 patients in seven wards had suffered nausea and diarrhoea caused by the virus.

The virus lasts about two days and no treatment is required but is easily spread from person to person.

"Even after the symptoms have cleared up, people may still carry the virus and infect others up to three days after their own symptoms have stopped," a spokesman said.
