Gas terminal protesters released

One quarter of Britain's gas is handled at Bacton

Nineteen protesters arrested following a demonstration at a gas terminal in Norfolk have been released on bail.

The people were arrested on suspicion of unlawful obstruction of a highway when about 25 people gathered at the Bacton Gas Terminal on Tuesday morning.

A spokeswoman said they were staging a protest against use of fossil fuels.

Norfolk Police said nine women and 10 men were arrested. The women are aged between 23 and 50 and the men 21 to 39. They must report to police on 2 May.
