Steve Coogan
As Alan Partridge, Steve Coogan immortalised the city's ring road
The comedian behind Radio Norwich DJ Alan Partridge is set to visit the city in his first UK tour in 10 years.

Steve Coogan, who is accused of putting Norwich on the map for the wrong reasons, will play three dates at the Theatre Royal on October 20, 21 and 22.

He will play 40 dates in the tour entitled Steve Coogan is Alan Partridge and Other Less Successful Characters.

His last tour, The Man Who Thinks He's It, was performed in front of 350,000 people at 200 venues in 1998.

Buffoonish Partridge began life as a spoof sports reporter on BBC Radio 4's On The Hour before moving to television on BBC Two's The Day Today.

The bumbling character then hosted spoof chat show Knowing Me, Knowing You before his sacking and breakdown was documented in two series of I'm Alan Partridge.

Partridge immortalised the city's ring road, the Longstanton Spice Museum and the Swaffham county fair.

Coogan subsequently appeared in movies including The Parole Officer, 24 Hour Party People and Around the World in 80 Days.

He then starred as his latest comic character, Saxondale, which was screened on BBC2.

A previous Perrier Award winner at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, his other comic characters include Paul and Pauline Calf.
