Runner's thanks to surgical team
A man who did not think he would ever walk again is running the London Marathon for the hospital unit which put him back on his feet.

Nigel Arnold underwent surgery for spinal canal stenosis at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

Spinal stenosis occurs when the canal in the spine that contains the spinal cord and nerve roots becomes narrowed.

Mr Arnold said he "had never imagined in a million years" that he would have been able to run again.

Mr Arnold has been a keen runner for many years and is a member of Norfolk Gazelles running club.

He said "If I had not had an MRI scan which revealed how serious my back was I would still be waiting in a dangerous situation and maybe have ended up in a wheelchair.

"I had already soldiered on for five months in a lot of pain."

"By way of thank you I want to raise monies for the unit as I never imagined in a million years that I would be able to run again."
