Man jailed for a 'brutal' attack
A 22-year-old man has been jailed for 16 months after admitting grievous bodily harm on a visitor staying at a caravan park in a west Norfolk resort.

Geoffrey Ramsbottom suffered a broken nose when attacked with a pole by John Reid, of Richmond Road, Norwich.

The two were fighting in South Beach Road, Hunstanton, on 23 July last year.

Ian James, defending Reid at Norwich Crown Court, said it was a spur of the moment attack and his client had gone too far.

Richard White, prosecuting, said Mr Ramsbottom had been drinking with a friend in the resort but trouble had brewed between two groups leading to the fight.

Judge Paul Downes said: "This was a brutal attack and a joint enterprise with someone else who has not been charged.

"You took part in a serious attack with a weapon. Two witnesses described that they saw a brutal attack and you have to take the consequences."
