Del Monte to close Norfolk plant
Fruit and vegetable packaging firm Del Monte is to close a factory in Norfolk.

The company, which employs more than 80 people on the site in West Lynn, is now negotiating with the trade unions over redundancy payments for the staff.

The Del Monte plant, which stands next to the river in West Lynn, produces fruit juices and packaging.

The trade unions USDAW and the GMB have held talks with the company in a bid to keep the plant open, but said it was likely to close in late February.

A Del Monte spokesman said: "They are a great workforce but the nature of the market means the factory is no longer viable."
