Dangerous toys seized from stall
A money box with a dangerous light bulb and an illegal electricity cable was among 500 toys seized from a shopping centre stall by trading standards.

The stall in Castle Mall at Norwich was raided following complaints and has now stopped trading.

Toys had no European safety markings to indicate they met standards, a Norfolk County Council officer said.

Other seized toys posed choking hazards and a correction fluid had no chemical warning on it.

Apart from the toys failing to comply with basic safety and labelling requirements, many of the products were also deemed to be generally unsafe by trading standards.

The council officer said: "Coins deposited through the slot in the money box dropped straight onto an unprotected bulb, potentially breaking it, exposing the filament and risking fire.

"The plug attached is two-pronged and incompatible with British electrical points. The fuse was not sufficient for the product and it had no earth wiring."
