A registrar has appeared in court charged with the sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl at a Norfolk hospital.

Rashid Sandhu, 29, a doctor at the James Paget Hospital, Gorleston, appeared at Norwich Crown Court where he was released on conditional bail.

Dr Sandhu who lived in Brotherton Way, Hopton, but now resides in Kent, is due to appear in December to enter a plea.

He has been charged separately with 17 counts of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.

Dr Sandhu has been suspended from his job while an investigation into the allegation of sexual assault last June is carried out.
