Stuck sheep rescued from a river
A sheep had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in mud on the outskirts of Norwich.

A passer-by who thought the animal was suffering from hypothermia contacted emergency services.

Two crews went to Earlham Park in Colney, near the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, where they pulled the sheep from reeds and mud on the riverbank.

Martin Barsby, from Norfolk Fire Service, said the crew looked after the animal until RSPCA staff arrived.

"It was shaking, but they didn't know if it was hypothermia or the shock of being rescued," he said.

"They stayed with the sheep for a few minutes, giving it a rubdown to warm it up and by the time the RSPCA got there, it had got up and ran off quite happily."
